Repair Instead of Replace: How Solutions30 Extends the Lifespan of Critical Equipment

Earth Day reminds us that sustainability is not only about implementing new technologies, but also about using existing ones more responsibly. At Solutions30, one of the most tangible—and often overlooked—ways to reduce environmental impact lies in the principle of repairing instead of replacing.

Every year, millions of electronic devices are replaced prematurely, generating unnecessary waste and additional emissions linked to manufacturing and logistics. By focusing on the maintenance, repair and refurbishment of equipment already in use, Solutions30 actively promotes more responsible consumption patterns.

Within its environmental strategy, the Group positions repair as a key lever of the circular economy, fully aligned with United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production, as highlighted in the Group’s 2025 Environmental Statement.

This commitment translates into measurable results on a scale. In 2025 alone, Solutions30 repaired 246,933 devices, including 197,375 computers and 49,558 printers. Over the past three years, approximately 732,000 devices have been repaired across several European countries.

By extending the lifespan of equipment, repair reduces waste generation, and demand for raw materials and emissions linked to production and logistics. It also acts as a pragmatic climate action lever, limiting energy‑intensive manufacturing cycles while improving environmental efficiency for customers.

Repair fits naturally within Solutions30’s broader climate strategy, which focuses on reducing emissions intensity through concrete, operational actions. In this way, it complements other energy transition initiatives such as renewable energy deployment, mobility electrification and network modernization.

Beyond its environmental impact, repair delivers clear operational and economic value for clients. It lowers total cost of ownership, strengthens resilience during supply‑chain disruptions and supports alignment with ESG requirements. For large organizations managing thousands of devices, extending equipment life through repair and refurbishment is both a sustainable choice and a performance driver.

Unlike replacement strategies that rely heavily on international supply chains, Solutions30’s repair activities are carried out locally, in dedicated workshops and logistics centers. This proximity limits transport‑related emissions while reinforcing local employment and skills development.

That is why, on Earth Day, Solutions30 highlights “Repair Instead of Replace” as a high‑impact environmental solution, already delivering tangible results every day across Europe.
